The Raden Fatah State Academy of Islamic Studies (IAIN) of
Palembang says it will build a new campus located in Jakabaring that
will cost up to Rp 400 billion.
Rector Aflatun Mochtar said that
the construction of the campus would be financially aided by the Asian
Development Bank (ADB) and the government.
“The amount of funds
from the ADB is US$35 million, while the government has given $6
million. The total amount of aid is $41 million, or around Rp 400
billion. At the moment [funds] are still being disbursed and will all be
received simultaneously,” he said Tuesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He
added that the new campus would be constructed on a 35-hectare plot of
land that had been donated by the South Sumatra provincial
administration. The academy is currently in the process of acquiring
land certificates for 15 hectares of the donated land.
“We plan to
build 17 buildings in the 35-hectares. We will also build the Sriwijaya
Mosque and an Islamic Center next to it. When all construction is
completed, it will be part of a golden triangle with IAIN Raden Fatah,”
he said. (awd)
